China Telecom Responds to eSIM Mobile Services: Fully Prepared and Ready to Launch Soon for Users

In the early hours of September 10 Beijing time, Apple officially unveiled the iPhone Air, the thinnest iPhone ever at just 5.6 millimeters. Apple stated that the iPhone Air incorporates an eSIM design to save internal space.

According to Apple's official website, eSIM is an industry-standard digital SIM card built into iPhones, eliminating the need for physical SIM cards. With eSIM, users enjoy greater flexibility, convenience, and enhanced security, along with seamless connectivity—making it especially useful for global travel.

Apple stated that eSIM is supported by over 500 carriers worldwide.

China Telecom responded that its eSIM mobile service is fully prepared. Following the anticipated formal approval for commercial trials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the company will soon offer eSIM service activation for devices including the iPhone 17.

Previously, China Unicom customer service indicated that no official notice regarding support for mobile eSIM services has been issued yet, with only eSIM services for smartwatches currently available. China Mobile customer service stated that eSIM currently supports binding to Apple Watch products under the “one number, dual devices” model, but no notification has been received regarding future support for mobile eSIM functionality.
