According to the official measurement by the China Earthquake Networks Centre, at 15:45 local time on 7 August 2025, a 5.4-magnitude earthquake occurred in the waters east of Taiwan (24.50 degrees north latitude, 123.00 degrees east longitude), with a focal depth of 80 kilometres.

According to measurements by Taiwan's meteorological department, at 15:45 local time on 7 August 2025, a magnitude 6.2 earthquake occurred 128.9 kilometres southeast of Yilan County Government, with a focal depth of 88.1 kilometres.
