Trump says he will quickly clear out homeless people and take back the capital

On 10 August local time, US President Trump posted on his social media account ‘Real Social’ that he would hold a press conference at the White House the following day to announce a series of measures aimed at making the capital ‘safer and more beautiful than ever before.’

He stated that all homeless individuals would be immediately relocated from the city centre, with the government providing them with accommodation, though it would be located far from the capital's core area; criminals, on the other hand, would be sent directly to prison.

Trump emphasised that this operation would be ‘very swift’ and similar to the strict control measures previously implemented at the border. He claimed that the number of illegal entries had been reduced from ‘millions to zero’ within a few months.

He urged relevant personnel to ‘be prepared’ and stated that this operation would no longer be ‘lenient,’ with the goal of ‘reclaiming the capital.’

The post included several photos of tent camps in the city, showing the current situation where some green spaces are occupied by homeless people.

On 9 August, Trump said that Washington, D.C. had become one of the most dangerous cities in the world, but would soon become one of the safest.
