How did you find your entrepreneurial direction?
I feel very confused right now and hope everyone can offer some advice.
I have been constantly experimenting, and I have sold the following products:
1. Weight loss pills
2. International shopping services: Clinique, Estée Lauder, Kiehl's, Clarins, etc.
3. Cribs
4. Pillows, blankets, and quilts
5. Razors and small appliances
6. Air purifiers
and more—note that there are over 100 items, definitely.
Now I’m in the food business, and my annual profit is more than what I made in the previous 10 years combined.
My experience is:
1. Do each thing with dedication; every experience accumulates something, preparing you for the future.
At first, your perspective and vision may be limited, and you might enter an industry with no future, but you still need to execute and do your best. Even if, after 10 years, you realize your choice was naive and clearly unwise,
2. Never lose confidence. This is absolutely crucial. I remember walking alone by the Huangpu River at 3 a.m. feeling utterly lost about the future. That sense of helplessness was suffocating.
3. Do what you love and what you’re capable of. Don’t do it solely for money. Not everyone’s values and temperament are the same.
4. Don’t trust people easily. I was scammed out of 600,000 yuan, and the person fled to Germany.
5. Don’t bet everything at once. That way, you won’t lose everything.
6. When choosing to start a business, do thorough research first. Don’t jump in blindly—you’ll waste not only money but also time. Before you know it, you’ll be 40, and it’ll be too late to regret it. Think about the future and set goals.
7. When facing difficulties in entrepreneurship, don’t try to avoid them. Even if you do, they’ll keep coming back and crush all your hopes and spirit. Face them head-on.
8. Be bold in pricing. If profits are insufficient, demand them from clients and consumers. Remember this absolutely: if you don’t make money, you’re worse off than a dog.
9. Prioritize the market over the product. Study the product, the market, the clients, and the competitors thoroughly.
Finally, best wishes and good luck to you.
