Do you think that people who died thousands of years ago, especially emperors and ancient literati, have been reincarnated? Or not?

Consciousness and the physical body are two distinct dimensions. Every religion explores reincarnation and the soul, and this is no coincidence.

If we were to approach this from a science fiction perspective, if our world is indeed virtual, then whether the soul reincarnates would depend on whether a new game character logs back into the game. If the entire universe is a unique, special game scenario, then lower animals would likely have no souls, existing merely as NPC-like characters. Human bodies are the players in the game, each corresponding to a different game account. As for where these souls come from in the real world outside the game, this is not hard to understand; because the games we humans create are controlled through screens, they only approximate the simulation of our human world as a virtual game, but they are far from achieving the immersive experience of souls being injected into game bodies.

Therefore, fundamentally, each real game character is simply the life experience they chose upon entering the game. Similar to reincarnation, being poor, rich, female, or male are all choices made upon entering the game.

Even parallel universes are akin to different game instances being activated, where each player can choose to embody an imperial role. For instance, China's First Emperor Qin Shi Huangdi might exist in different parallel universes (essentially different game instances), with the souls injected being those of different players. Naturally, the outcomes would also vary.

We cannot dismiss such speculation. Because in our current universe, we cannot find another Earth-like scenario within the observable universe, highlighting its uniqueness. Especially the setting of the speed of light being constant is simply too absurd. It is akin to the limited computational power of the computer hosting the game, which can only set the maximum speed as the speed of light.

As for whether the game might shut down, crash, or require a reload, characters within the game cannot perceive such events, as reloading would erase all previous memories. However, souls are real energy entities outside the game. Thus, after completing a lifetime and dying within the game, the soul exits the game. Perhaps after experiencing the life of an ordinary person this time, it might want to try the role of an emperor next time. Therefore, the soul definitely retains its memories outside the game. However, due to the game's settings, when entering the role of an emperor in the next game, it will no longer remember the memories of the previous game's character.
